Hanging out with hobbits...

"Not all those who wander are lost."
- JRR Tolkien

About 2 weeks ago now I got to fulfill one of my childhood dreams, visiting Hobbiton from Lord of the Rings! This is the actual set from The Hobbit as they tore down the temporary set from the original movies.  It was absolutely incredible how much detail went into this set! There was smoke from every chimney and little clothes hanging on all the clotheslines!

There were these adorable little flyers and notes hanging all over.

There are 44 hobbit holes in total and each one has its own identity! One had bees and honey, another tools and woodworking things, and another looked to be a butcher's shop.

Only a few of the hobbit hole's doors actually open but inside is just an empty small room.
This is Frodo and Bilbo's house!

This location was chosen because no matter what direction they filmed in there weren't any power lines or roads.

I love the tiny details such as these clothes hanging on the line!
Samwise's house!

It was such a fun trip! I then spent two days in the city of Rotorua which is known for its geothermal activity.  Its amazing to walk through a city park and have bubbling hot springs.
